Heartland Area Education Agency serves schools whose English language learners have not met AMAO 3 related to annual yearly progress (AYP), as defined by the state. Heartland offers a variety of professional development, speakers, conference attendance opportunities, and consultation services to support districts. ESL Assessments 

• Placement Tests: The Idea Proficiency Test (IPT) can be ordered from Heartland's Professional Library, they are free of charge to all AEA 11 school districts needing to assess language proficiency of new English Language Learners (ELLs). To order call the Professional Library at 515-270-0405 or 800-255-0405 x14323.

• Annual Growth Assessment:  The testing window is March 1 to April 30 each year. The Iowa English Language Development Assessment (I-ELDA) can be ordered from nwaea.k12.ia.us
