Application Process Overview

Applications are accepted through our online application system. Applications must be filled out in its entirety and include all necessary documents in order to be considered.  The only documents accepted via mail or e-mail, after completion of the online application, are letters of recommendation and official transcripts because they are often provided by a 3rd party.

Open positions are updated on Wednesday and Friday of each week. Primary hiring season is late winter or early spring.

Required Documents:

Our application system only accepts attachments in the following formats: doc, docx, txt, rtf, jpg, png, tif, bmp, pdf.   The combined total of all attachments cannot exceed 4 MB.  Note: Position-specific information is found under each position description once you begin the job search and application process.

Internet Access Required:

If you do not have access to a home computer, most public libraries and Iowa Workforce Development Centers have computers available for use by the general public.  There are also two computers at Heartland's Administration Center in Johnston reserved for job applicants.

Since e-mail is the main form of communication at Heartland, it will be necessary to have your own e-mail address.  If you do not have an e-mail address, we suggest signing up for a free account through one of the e-mail clients at the following link:

All applicant notifications will be sent to the e-mail provided on your applicant profile.
