Leadership DevelopmentIowa Standards of School LeadersA central location for tools and processes needed to support implementation of the Iowa Standards for School Leaders. The website is designed to assist school leaders with creating a culture of increased learning for both students and teachers. The processes and tools presented are aligned with Heartland's professional library resources and the professional development opportunities available for school leaders. At its May 13, 2010, meeting, the State Board of Education adopted changes to the criteria under Iowa’s Teacher Standards. The amendments strengthen Iowa’s commitment to using student performance data to evaluate educators. They specifically address Iowa Administrative Code Chapter 83,―Teacher and Administrator Quality Programs. The changes include the statements that a teacher (changes are underlined): Standard 1 (a) now reads "Provides multiple forms of evidence of student learning and growth to students, families, and staff." Standard 7 now has a fifth criteria (e) "Provides an analysis of student learning and growth based on teacher created tests and authentic measures as well as any standardized and district-wide tests."
