163 PROJECTS ON DISPLAY AT HEARTLAND AEA TECHNOLOGY FAIR, APRIL 22

JOHNSTON, Iowa – More than 270 students will enter their computer, video, multimedia, Web design and other projects in Heartland Area Education Agency’s Student Technology Fair, Tuesday, April 22, at the Des Moines Airport Holiday Inn.

Judging runs between 9 a.m. and about 11 a.m. Judges will award blue, red or white ribbons to the entries and "Judges Choice" ribbons to the exceptional projects. Central Iowa students from 19 school districts and two private schools have entered 163 projects in five categories: multimedia, Web page design, computer programming, video presentations, and graphics and publishing projects.

Student projects demonstrate a wide range of technology expertise. Project topics are equally broad and include the Bermuda Triangle, Sept. 11, pollution, "My Mom’s Life," sign language and a number on historical figures, animal species and sports.

Participating school districts (and the number of projects entered) are Adel-DeSoto-Minburn (5), Ames (1), Ankeny (8), Carroll (5), Collins-Maxwell (28), Dallas Center-Grimes (6), St. Anthony-Des Moines (3), Exira (5), Indianola (1), Johnston (8), Nevada (4), North Polk (30), Ogden (4), PCM (5), Pella (11), Southeast Polk (9), Southeast Warren (1), United (15), St. Pius X-Urbandale (4),
Waukee (3) and Winterset (7).
