More
than 140 computer, video, Web and other student projects are entered in
Heartland Area Education Agency’s Student Technology Fair, Thursday,
April 29, at the Des Moines Airport Holiday Inn. About 220 students will
present their projects.
Entries
will be judged between 9 a.m. and about 11 a.m. Judges will award blue, red or
white ribbons to the entries and “Judges Choice” ribbons to the
exceptional projects. Central Iowa students from 29 schools have entered
projects in five categories: multimedia, Web page design, computer programming,
video presentations, and graphics and publishing.
Student
projects demonstrate a wide range of technology expertise and subject matter.
Project topics include Lewis and Clark, mummies, Elvis Presley, Trolls and
bridges, and a number on historical figures, animal species and geographic
subjects.
Participating
school districts (and the number of projects entered) are Adel-DeSoto-Minburn (7), Ames (1), Ankeny (11), Carroll
(1), Colfax-Mingo (6), Collins-Maxwell (27), Dallas Center-Grimes (8), Exira
(5), Madrid (1), Nevada (6), North Polk (26), Pella (13), Southeast Polk (6),
Southeast Warren (2), St. Pius X-Urbandale (5), United (15), Waukee (1), West
Des Moines (1) and Winterset (3).
