Krefting Honored with ITEC State Technology Leadership Award

Heartland AEA instructional technology consultant Denise Krefting was recently honored by the Iowa Technology and Education Connection (ITEC) with its State Technology Leadership Award. The award is given annually to someone who is involved in educational technology in a leadership role at the state level. Nominees for the award have significant involvement in educational technology beyond the local level. Denise was nominated for the award by her colleagues.
Denise has been a technology consultant at Heartland AEA since 2007 and has also been a science consultant at the Agency. Prior to coming to the AEA, she served as a technology coordinator, integration specialist and classroom teacher in the Waukee and Dexfield school districts. Denise obtained her masters degree in educational technology from the University of Northern Iowa and uses her knowledge to work with teachers, students and administrators on technology integration and literacy. She is involved in the rollout of the Iowa Core Curriculum as a member of the State's Iowa Core Curriculum work team. She is a past board member of ITEC and has shared her knowledge in presentations at previous ITEC conferences.

"I have worked closely with Denise and have admired her dedication to teachers and students alike throughout her professional career. Her work ethic and desire to support educators are not only assets to Heartland, but also the entire state of Iowa. This state leadership award confirms the fact that Denise is a leader in the area of educational technology throughout our state. I count it a great privilege to collaborate on a daily basis with such a talented and knowledgeable person."
