Heartland & East Polk Interagency Association to Host Marc Prensky
Heartland is pleased to announce that it is partnering with Central Place Family Resource Center and Southeast Polk Community School District to provide an opportunity on October 3 for local educators and community members to hear Marc Prensky speak. The topic, "Technology and Its Changing Relationship to School and Work," is an increasingly relevant issue for our youth today. As we prepare students for a global economy, technology plays a critical role. We know that students today come to the school door using technology that most teachers did not grow up using or even imagining. It will be important for educators and our community to be aware of the ways that technology enhances learning and will help students to achieve 21st century skills.
Marc Prensky is an internationally acclaimed speaker, writer, educator and consultant in the critical areas of education and learning. He is the author of Digital Game-Based Learning and Don’t Bother Me Mom-I’m Learning. Marc is founder and CEO of Games2Train, whose clients include IBM, Bank of America, Pfizer, the U.S. Department of Defense and Los Angeles and Florida Virtual Schools.
