Course Approval
Forms
Certified staff members must receive approval
for courses from their supervisor and division
director prior to enrolling in a class if they
intend to use the credit to advance on the salary
schedule. The course must be directly related to
their job assignment. Course Approval forms are
available in all Branch Offices as well as the
Human Resources (HR) office. Course Approval forms
are prepared in triplicate and after supervisor and
division director approval, the original is sent to
the HR Office for inclusion in the employee's
personnel file, the yellow copy is returned to the
employee and the pink copy goes to the supervisor.
Up to seven hours of staff development credit may
be included with graduate hours on the BA+15,
MA+30, and MA+45 lanes of the salary schedule.
Staff Development
Credit
Certified staff members may apply for up to
seven hours of staff development credit on each of
the following lanes; BA+15, MA+30, and MA+45 toward
reclassification on the salary schedule. Courses
need prior approval by the supervisor to advance on
the salary schedule and must be directly related to
job assignment.
Reclassification
Certified staff members may request
reclassification for advancement on the salary
schedule. This request must be received by October
1 of the contract year for which graduate credit
and/or staff development credit is requested. All
courses must be completed prior to September 1.
Proof of completion of work shall be by official
transcript submitted to their supervisor for
approval and forwarded to the Human Resources
office on or before October 15. Salary increases
shall be retroactive to the beginning of the
employee's current contract. Courses need prior
approval to advance on the salary schedule and must
be directly related to job assignment. Up to seven
hours of staff development credit may be included
in graduate hours on the BA+15, MA+30, and MA+45
lanes of the salary schedule.
