Heartland has a limited amount of inventory for serving physically disabled students in their educational environments. This equipment is for:

  • OTs and PTs to use in their interventions with the students.
  • Trial or short term use by a student in any of their various learning environments.

Each zone office houses equipment and books for therapists. Therapists are responsible for the office inventory as well as their personal inventory. There is also an inventory of larger items that are available for use throughout Heartland. These items are checked out from the OT/PT secretary at the Johnston office.

Equipment may be loaned for a short length of time, 4-6 weeks, for a trial period or for temporary needs, using the Equipment Loan form. Any educationally related equipment that is used long term is acquired by the parent or school. A therapist may work with the parents and schools in suggesting avenues to explore in procuring equipment and in working with them on appropriate selections.

There is an equipment committee responsible for; development of equipment policies, maintaining an inventory system, monitoring supplies of consumables and splinting materials, ordering equipment, toys, and consumables, and facilitating equipment sharing.
