Occupational Therapists & Occupational Therapy Limited Permit Holders

  1. Awareness of and compliance with Iowa OT licensure regulations and the American Occupational Therapy Association regulations, documents and guidelines regarding practice and supervision.
  2. Share responsibility for open and professional communication between each other.
  3. Collaboratively discuss the COTA's strengths and needs. Determine methods of increasing professional skills and document progress.
  4. Each month, schedule and attend supervision session(s). While licensure requires a minimum of 2 hours per week of one-to-one supervision, best practice would indicate that supervision be provided as frequently as necessary to ensure efficient and effective services. Supervision shall be documented on Limited Permit OT Supervision documentation form.
