At Heartland we recognize the importance of providing student internships in the area of educational pediatric therapy. For this reason, we have contracted with occupational therapy and physical therapy programs to provide experiences for their students. Several clinical affiliations are available in two, six, eight, or twelve week length periods throughout the school year. AEA therapists are encouraged to be a clinical instructors after at least one year of employment at Heartland. Therapists will have the opportunity to supervise students on a rotating basis. Sharing an individual student between two therapists is an option. There is a clinical instructor manual to use in guiding students through their internship. Therapists are required to be on site with the student during the entire clinical and cosign any documentation that the student writes.
