High School Redesign: Personalization

In response to the overwhelming national, state and local data that the United States needs to improve its approach to producing productive citizens who are post-secondary ready and possess 21st Century Skills upon graduation from high school, in 2005 Heartland AEA 11 began work around High School Redesign and called it Focus on High Schools.  Our goals were to support local high schools in examining their data to systemically improve instruction and enhance the connection high school students have with the school environment, all with the goal of increasing student achievement.  This website includes resources that were made available during the 2006-07 school year at sessions offered to high school building leadership teams in the areas of Personalization and Rigor/Relevance.  You will also see links to additional resources around Iowa's elements of High School Redesign.  These elements include the Case for Change, High Expectations, Collaborative Leadership, Personalization and the Student Focused System, Rigor and Relevance, Professional Development, Student Assessment and Program Evaluation.
