High School Redesign: Rigor and Relevance
Research has shown that in order to provide all students with the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to compete in a global economy, schools must use new approaches and methods. In response to this research, during the 2006-07 school year Heartland AEA 11 offered the five sessions listed below to high school leadership teams to provide them with the opportunity to examine data from their schools in order to move from a current reality to a desired state. These teams acquired the knowledge, skills and tools to measure the rigor and relevance of curriculum, instruction, and assessment with the goal of crafting a long-range action plan to increase student achievement and preparation for post-high school life.
